Eva + Calvin : Disney Art of Animation Family Session

March 20, 2015 by Jensey 4 Comments

I refuse to believe it’s been six years since Carly and Kyle’s wedding day!

It’s always fun catching up with past couples and watching their families grow, but this time felt so different! I’ve been following Carly’s blog religiously since she became a mother. I read every word of her in-depth post about Eva’s incredible (and slightly terrifying) birth story, already knew the origins of her children’s names, cried reading about Eva’s first ER trip after an allergic reaction to peanuts, and swoon with every tea party and zoo trip Carly takes with her kiddos. Because I follow along with this family’s daily life, I didn’t feel like I was meeting her kids for the first time, instead, I felt like I was meeting two little celebrities!

You can read Ever Clever Mom (Carly’s blog) here if you’re remotely interested in cute kids but most especially if you’re also raising a kid with severe food allergies. You can find a link to her other blogs here, which of course includes Magical Day Weddings, a blog about Disney weddings!

We met Carly, Kyle, Eva, and Calvin at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, and it was our first time shooting here. :)

Oh, how I wanted to take Eva home with me!!!! We knew the shoot was a success when at the end of our session, Eva asked if we wanted to live in their hotel room with them. <3

Tiffany + Chad + Christopher : Disney Port Orleans Riverside Family Session

February 10, 2015 by Jensey 6 Comments

It was one of the worst moments of my life: My first “real” car accident, and I’d pulled over in the Downtown Disney parking lot with my engine smoking. I had just dropped my best friend off at work, and the only other people I knew in town with cars weren’t answering their phones. I had no money for a cab and no idea what to do since my Mom wasn’t picking up either, but then I remembered a friend from high school had come down on the Disney College Program, too. Our schedules never seemed to line up to meet and we both got busy, but here I had no one else to call and felt so alone and then Tiffany picked me up and all was right with the world. Well, sort of- I still had to call my Dad and let him know I was in an accident and it was totally my fault and my car was un-driveable, but that’s neither here nor there. :)

Tiffany is just that kind of friend- Go a year, or in the case of our session, 10 years!, without much communication and then you can pick up right where you left off! I was so often teased for my Disney obsession in high school that when I met a girl who not only loved Disney as much as I did, but whose Dad was known for his 4th of July Disney-inspired fireworks show, well- I was in heaven!! I’m so happy my sweet friend found an amazing husband and is the proud momma to one of the silliest little boys I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet! Christopher and my husband became fast friends and I so love the photos we got from their Port Orleans Riverside session. :)

Kate : Lilly Pulitzer Inspired Grand Floridian Senior Portraits

February 9, 2015 by Jensey 5 Comments

I so vividly remember taking my senior portraits. They were something every girl at my high school looked forward to and every guy sort of shrugged their shoulders about, but deep down, I know they were excited, too. Of course we had the generic drape photos, and the cap and gown ones, but the best part was the “fun” ones. Every yearbook published let seniors pick their favorite senior photo and they used them as a border around the index section and I always loved seeing them: The girl in front of the barn door, the guy and his football, so many hay bail and wagon wheel photos (it was Tennessee, ok?!), and of course, me sitting awkwardly on the floor with my legs kicked out, awkwardly holding a pillow that happened to match my top.

My favorite, of course, was when the photographer had me sit on a stool in front of a desk. He pulled out a mirror, rest it on the desk, and had me sort fold my arms and lay my head down, while he took photos of me looking at my reflection. Yes, that description will be as close as you ever get to seeing *my* senior portraits. ;)

It’s no wonder people are so nervous in front of our cameras the first time we pull them out- If that had been my only experience with a photographer in my adult life, I’d feel the same way, too!

When Betsy contacted us to photograph Kate’s senior portraits, we really loved the opportunity to photograph something outside our wheelhouse. Of course, Kate made our job easy, looking like she just stepped out of a Lilly Pulitzer catalog! I most definitely never looked like this in high school. Or college. Or now. ;)

Kate, you are absolutely gorgeous, thank you so much for letting us capture this wonderful time in your life. Have a wonderful senior year and we can’t wait to hear about the great things you accomplish! <3
