Rebecca + Matias : Wedding

January 14, 2011 by Jensey 8 Comments

Can we just take a minute and talk here? Where the heck did last week go?! I mean, I know it was just here- with me. I was sitting with it at my desk and telling it my big plans for the year, one which very specifically included me promising four blog posts per week and then- Wha?! It’s Friday? Of NEXT week?! 2011, you need to s l o w  do w n!

I am sorry for being MIA. I wish I had a better excuse, but I was busy getting a jump on birthday gifts for the year, soaking up the Oprah Winfrey Network, and catching up on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. :)

So, as you should remember from their engagement session, Rebecca and Matias flew us to Chicago to capture their wedding day in Geneva, Illinois. We started the day around Rebecca’s parent’s home, where we were met with a very sweet videographer, Jen Moon of Northernlight Filmworks, and a very pretty wedding dress. :)

Have I mentioned that Nate is my favorite photographer in the world? I love how “in the moment” this shot is.

Can’t help but love this one, too. :)

The United Methodist Church of Geneva scored some major points with me thanks to those magical looking vines. :)

Pretty much one of the cutest grooms ever – Accent and all! :)

The light at Cantigny Gardens was stunning- I could have shot here all day.

One of my favorite photos I’ve ever, ever taken. Rebecca, you are stunning.

FACT : Matias didn’t give Rebecca the time of day until he found out she was fluent in Spanish. ;)

The best man gave his speech in English while Rebecca translated it into Spanish. :)

Rebecca and Matias, thank you so much for letting us capture part of your adventure! We hope our paths cross again someday. :)

Lorie + Jon : Wedding Reception

December 20, 2010 by Jensey 12 Comments

So, hopefully by now you all remember the story about how Jon proposed to Lorie. If not, you can read about it here, but it went a little something like this:

Both the proposal and dinner reception took place at Southall Eden in Franklin, TN– A location unlike any other I’ve been to. :) Jon chose to pop the question there because they’d already planned on having a wedding reception at the barn for family and friends following their semi-elopement in Tanzania, Africa. :) All caught up now? Good! Well, Lorie worked her booty off making their reception dinner on a budget something special, and she totally succeeded. :)

Not only did Lorie do all of the floral arrangements on her own, but she also made personalized coloring books for her nieces and nephews that came. :)

It’s pretty rare that we get place cards, so that had to be documented. :)

More of Lorie’s handy-work: I adored her dessert menu on a blackboard and mini-cherry pies handmade by Jon. :)

The night was perfect and allowed for us to mingle with Lorie and Jon’s families, and show off some of our Africa photos. :) Nate took some room shots once all the other guests left:

Special thanks to Dawn of Premiere Wed for helping Lorie’s vision come to life! (And for bringing me a Diet Coke that I completely forgot to pay you back for! Sorry!!)

Lorie + Jonathan : Wedding II

December 17, 2010 by Jensey 14 Comments

(Continued from Part 1!)

As soon as the ceremony was over, we kidnapped (bridenapped & groomnapped?) the newlyweds for some photo time. :)

Yes, in Africa, single women are actually called “spinsters.” No… Seriously!

We didn’t have the original hour for photos like we’d hoped, but we did what we could in the 10 minutes given!

Lorie’s laugh is my favorite. :)

About a month before the wedding, Lorie lived every bride’s nightmare- She had to find a “Plan B” wedding dress. Since bridal shops couldn’t order a dress in time, we hit the mall searching for the perfect one- Thanks to BCBG, I think Lorie found the ultimate wedding dress that fits her personality- Much more so than the first. Things worked out perfectly in the end! :)

Nate’s family is my family-in-law, and Lorie’s family is my family-in-love! I adore these guys- They’re truly my 2nd parents, and I’m so lucky to have them in my life!

I’m so sad Nate isn’t in this one! Our guides, Asterick and Herbie, toasting Jon. :)

Yep. This was one of my favorite things about the wedding- Lorie requested African drummers to be at the wedding to drum while she walked down the aisle. What’d she end up getting? An African mariachi band! I think some things just get lost in translation…

In case you forgot, Lorie and Jon met while driving safari trucks at Kilimanjaro Safaris at Walt Disney World. :)

Lorie, you need a 30×40″ canvas of this above your bed. Or fireplace. Just sayin’.

In Lorie’s wedding vows to Jon, “I promise to be your fellow safari driver through life and after.”

Instead of a reception, we all just went back to their suite and had dinner and some cake. :) And instead of a traditional cake topper, Lorie and Jon opted to put figurines of their favorite animals on top- Lorie’s being the giraffe, Jon’s the wildebeest. :)

Lorie, Jon, Mamma Phu, and Barry, we love you to the moon and back. Let’s do it again! :)
