A Very Root Honeymoon <3

January 9, 2015 by Jensey 4 Comments

(Make sure you’ve already read our engagement story here and wedding story here!)

After our wedding, my brand new husband and I took a train back to New York for our honeymoon. Neither of us had been and it was just the most magical. There was nothing like walking around New York City for the first time ever on Christmas Day- Everything was decorated, but the city was practically a ghost town because everything was closed. I was a little sick but didn’t care, and Nathanial was my husband and all was right with the world.

Brian met up with us in Central Park for a few more portraits before we headed back to sunny Florida.

These are all my favorites. <3

There’s a line in Miracle on 34th street where Santa tells Mr. Bedford, “In all my troubles past, and all my troubles yet to come, I’ll never find a better friend.” We never say it enough, but Brian, that’s exactly how we feel about you. Second to getting married, the only thing that mattered to us on our wedding day was having you there! Thank you for your unwavering friendship, and essentially being responsible for not only our wedding day, but our careers. We love you too much. <3

And to wrap up too long a story, here are some of my favorite photos Nathanial grabbed from our honeymoon. <3

And we lived happily ever after. The end! <3

Florida Gay Wedding Photographer

Nate and I are so proud to be Floridians today and wanted to celebrate with a promotion! Any gay wedding booked between today and January 31st, 2015 will receive a free USB drive upgrade (containing all edited images)- normally a $650 value. Weddings must take place in Florida, otherwise travel fees must be covered, and obviously we must be available for your wedding date and all that good stuff. We’d love to be your wedding photographers, so please fill out the contact form on our website or blog, or just email us directly at hello(at)rootweddings.com to get the booking process started.

Yay Florida! Yay weddings! Yay equality! <3

Andrea + Mickey : First Wedding at The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts

THIS WEDDING. <3

These guys were married right before Christmas, and I’m still reeling at how gorgeous everything was. I mean, just look at these two!! It was our longest wedding of the year, but we got to work with a dream team of vendors, our friend Patricia of LeJeune Hair and Make-up Artistry, our best pal Jeffrey Stoner Video, the incredible team of Greenery Productions bringing things to life, and the ever-silly Tracy Marini of Eventfully Yours guiding the ship. Of course, it’s the *one* wedding I was sick for all year, but with a vendor team like that, how can you not be in a wonderful mood all day?!

THEN it was time for the event we’d all been waiting for- The FIRST EVER wedding reception at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. I feel like I’ve been waiting for its completion for years, and to be a part of the first wedding felt so, so special. I’ll never forget it!

And dancing followed in the DeVos Family Room. (Yes, that is mistletoe hanging at the bottom of that stunning centerpiece over the dance floor!) Andrea and Mickey, thank you for letting us be a part of it all, and Jeffrey Stoner, we’ll never know how to thank you for sending them our name! So excited to share more in the coming weeks. :)
